Abstract
This experiment was conducted to clarify the effects of time of uniconazole and of fogging and fanning treatment on growth and flowering of Cymbidium Mini Dream ¢¥Golden Color¢¥. Average temperature and relative humidity of the highland (Mt. Kaya, 850 m elevation) during the experiment period were lower as 5.3¡É and 1.5% but daily temperature fluctuation during the day and night and average amount of insolation were higher as 1.4¡É and 74.2 §º¡¤§¯^(-2)¡¤day^(-1)compared with the lowland (Pusan). Leaf temperature under fogging and fanning treatment was lower than that under control. Fogging and fanning treatment to drop leaf temperature was most effective in the evening (6:00 PM-10:00 PM). Leaf growth was retarded by uniconazole treatment and the earlier treatment time, the more effective in retardation. Average flowering date was accelerated 4 to 6 days by uniconazole treatment. Moreover, the effect of flowering acceleration by uniconazole treatment was increased synergistically with fogging and fanning treatment. Average flowering date was accelerated 17 days by uniconazole (5 May) and fogging and fanning (6:00 PM-10:00 PM) treatment. The number of inflorescences increased by uniconazole and fogging and fanning treatment. The abortion rate of inflorescence decreased by about 10% in all treatments as compared to 30% in control.
